1,600 International Travelers Have Visited Bali Since February

An official from the central government has confirmed that Bali has received over 1,600 foreign visitors since early February 2022.

The Maritime and Investment Ministry coordinator, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, confirmed that Bali had received over 1,600 international travelers since Bali Ngurah Rai Airport reopened on February 4.

“Since we decided to reopen Bali Airport to international flights, the island has received around 1,600 visitors as of Saturday (26/2),” Luhut said on Sunday (27/2).

Half of them decided to stay in the appointed bubble quarantine hotels, which allow visitors to engage in outdoor activities while undergoing mandatory quarantine.

“Most travelers who visited the island were from America, France, Netherlands, Australia, and Russia. Half of them stayed in bubble quarantine hotels which cost around USD $210 (IDR 3 million) a night,” Luhut added.

Meanwhile, the Vice Governor of Bali, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawat, confirmed that 65 quarantine facilities were appointed for the foreign travelers in Bali, and 27 of them are the bubble quarantine hotels.

1600 international travellers to Bali is nothing to crow about - a fraction of the number of tourists who would have visited but for the draconian visa hassle and cost and the quarantine requirement.

@Roger Thomas, how was it being stuck in a fortress Australia in the last two years? Any deep soul searching or too content, too inward-looking, too complacent. Some even argued that fortress Australia has been an economic policy. It has kept out covid as a wishful thinking but that does not stop the virus from entering any border around the world including Australia.

On the Bangkok post, Indonesia recorded 143,744 foreign visitor arrivals in January, up 13.62% annually.
