Man Attacked By Locals For Attempting To Snatch A Bag In Bali

A man has been mobbed for snatching a bag from a college student on Jalan Sunset Road, Kuta on Sunday evening (23/1).

The Head of Denpasar Public Relations, Police Officer Iptu I Ketut Sukadi, confirmed that a man named Ari Furrohman (aged 25) from Jember was mobbed before being arrested by the police.

He snatched a bag from a college student named Villa MaiyamKafomay (aged 21) on Jalan Sunset Road Kuta on Sunday at 8:00 pm.

The victim was riding a motorbike with her friend when a stranger approached them and snatched a bag from Villa’s friend’s lap.

“The victim attempted to chase the suspect with her motorbike while shouting for help,” Iptu Sukadi said on Tuesday (25/1). The suspect was captured by by-passers less than a kilometer from the scene.

The angry mob began to assault the suspect before the police arrested him.

“The suspect was arrested for snatching a bag containing a cellphone, wallet and make-up worth USD $909 (IDR 13 million),” Iptu Sukadi concluded.
