The Indonesian central government through the Economic Coordinator Minister, Airlangga Hartanto has announced that a Covid-19 vaccine certificate would be an entry requirement to shopping malls in Bali in the near future.
Hartanto confirmed that the policy to show proof of a Covid-19 vaccine for each visitor before entering shopping malls in Bali is expected to be implemented in the next three weeks. As a response to this regulation, the Head of Bali Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI), Gita Sinarwulan stated that she has communicated this policy with a company called PeduliLindungi to register and provide barcode scanners in all the shopping malls across Bali as a form of support to this program.
“All the shopping malls’ visitors must scan their Covid-19 certificate barcode through PeduliLindungi apps before entering the building.” Sinarwulan said on Friday (6/8). She also hopes that the government would consider revoking their restrictions and reopen all shopping centers after implementing this policy, she hopes this will help reactivate the economic activity that was negatively impacted by the emergency partial lockdown that started at the beginning of July 2021.
However, Sinarwulan admitted her concern that this policy might bring an impact in reducing the occupancy rate once it’s implemented. “We’re definitely concerned that people might become reluctant to visit our shopping center, but we will still support the government’s program in achieving herd immunity in Bali.” Sinarwulan concluded. She also urges the government to publicly inform the community regarding this program before implementing the policy.

@Randy, I'm not vaccinated yet because either the vaccination protects, then the vaccinated is protected and does not have to be afraid of the unvaccinated ... or the vaccination does not protect, then you have to ask yourself why you should get vaccinated

@Ganivet, if you have been vaccinated why worry about it? Right...

There is a growing evidence that getting vaccinated also protects you from being a carrier of the coronavirus that could transmit to others.
Breakthrough infections with vaccinated people can happen but at least you will not suffer as much or hospitalized or even death like those who are not vaccinated. Using masks for outdoors/indoors and social distancing may remain a perequisite safety net for many months to come.
Several countries including Indonesia will be adopting a digital vaccination passport to enter retail and entertainment establishments. Heard that Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Bali will gradually enforce it. Folks living in Indonesia will have to get used to it like in the rest of the world.

How would local government expect that shopping malls will be flooded by people if you cannot even enter Bali Island

@Ben, You may want to reiterate your statement wisely. First, France has introduced the "pass sanitaire". I know so. 13 other European countries are introducing green passes even if you are a foreign tourist to enter indoor hospitality venues.
CDC recommends NOW that fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors in places where the virus is spreading based of level community transmission in each State in the US.
Some bars and restaurants in the States may be required to show proof of vaccination. I know so in California at least. However it will unlikely be a national mandate.
For example at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago last month, attendees had to present proof of vaccination, while the rest had to show a recently negative Covid-19 test. Unfortunately hundreds of others were turned away for lack of paperwork.
Well Florida and Texas that's another whole craziness of their own doing not worth going into...sighs
So if you think Indonesia may be doing differently, they are only adopting similar measures that it is now happening in some other places in the world.
So do you want to Bali to reopen safely with measures that's conforming to healthier standards? And that is a vaccination as a requirement be it here or elsewhere.

@Randy, this is absolutely not common. The only country in Europe that requires proof of vaccination to enter large malls is France, and every weekend a quarter of a million are protesting against that.
Meanwhile in many countries you can go to a mall without having to prove anything at all, face masks are no longer mandatory, you can just wherever you want without restriction. This applies to many US states as well - so who is being different here?

@john smith, great and see if you can enter a mall in your own country. More countries are required to have a proof of vaccination to enter retail stores or entertainment venues. Why should not be any different here??

What happened to freedom of choice? Vaccinated or not, you still can get covid..you still can pass it on, you just won't die when vaccinated..which is still debatable based on Dr.Charles Hoffe medical facts on the vaccine. To top it of.. people are being kicked out of their homes here in Bali if they r not vaccinated.. we are talking about the local population here.. it's a fact now.. we don't have a choice...

@Steve, The more people that are unvaccinated or remain unvaccinated, the virus replicates. As it replicates, it mutates, and the more efficient it gets with mutations, that’s where you get variants like delta and possibly more other variants.
The Canadian Dr. Charles Hoffe tested on some people with the mRNA vaccines of a possible blood clot. Those studies may be inconclusive. However what does it have to do with many who have been vaccinated here recently with vaccines that were readily available other than the mRNA vaccines.
Have a look at an article worth reading " The mandatory vaccinations that triggered a riot in Montreal in 1885". Search for the title on your web browser it will pop up.
What happened then in 1885 and now in 2021 have not changed the perception of people with mandatory vaccinations drive.
