Officials from Badung Health Agency have confirmed that the plan to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine to pregnant medical workers has been postponed.
The Head of the Badung Health Agency, Dr. I Nyoman Gunarta stated that the government officials have postponed the program to distribute the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to the pregnant medical workers in the Badung region as he’s still unsure about the impact that it might make on the pregnancy. “Until today, we haven’t decided if we would distribute the third dose of the vaccine to our pregnant medical workers in the Badung area or not.” Dr. Gunarta said.
Previously, officials from several regional governments in Bali have announced that they will start to distribute the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from Moderna to medical workers as many of them who were previously vaccinated with Sinovac still managed to get infected with the virus. The program was initiated to protect the medical workers from Covid-19 transmissions that have surged the last several weeks in Bali.
Meanwhile some of the medical workers in Badung admitted that they’re still confused whether they should receive the vaccine or not during their pregnancy as they’re also afraid that it might harm their baby. Dr. Gunarta explained that he would discuss this issue with Badung Obstreticians and Gynecologist Association (POGI) before making any decision. “I plan to consult with Badung POGI and ask for advice in regards to the issue before making further decisions.” Dr. Gunarta concluded. However, the vaccination program to the other medical workers has been running normally as they have reached 26.9% from a total of 5,533 in the Badung region.
