Bali Student Takes His Own Life At The Titi Gantung Bridge

A 17-year-old man from Pelaga village, Badung has been found lifeless by authorities after allegedly throwing himself off the Titi Gantung Bridge in Tabanan.

The Head of Tabanan Public Relation Police Officer, Iptu I Nyoman Subagia confirmed that the student has been evacuated by authorities from Tabanan Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and by Search and Rescue Team (SAR) on Tuesday shortly after midnight. “The victim was already dead when he was found by the authorities last night.” Iptu Subagia said on Tuesday morning (18/5).

According to information from the victim’s father named I Wayan S, his son was going to school as usual on Monday morning (17/5). But later in the afternoon, Wayan was informed by one of his son’s teachers at school that he hasn’t been attending his class for one week. After receiving that information, Wayan attempted to call his son’s cellphone but he didn’t respond. After a few hours, his mother received a text from their son, expressing his disappointment to his parents.

“His father was informed by a witness (I GNAP) that he had already thrown himself from a 200 meter high bridge. Shortly after, Wayan reported the incident to the Marga Police Department as he was going to the location around 9:00pm. “After receiving the report, we immediately evacuated the body, and transported him to the Mangusada Hospital in Badung for further medical investigation.” Iptu Subagia concluded. The SAR team deployed 10 units to the location, and the body was evacuated by a mobile crane as the terrain was quite difficult to be reached.
