Russian Designer Takes His Own Life in Bali

A 29-year-old man named Pavel Chernousov from Russia has been found dead in a bungalow in Ubud on Monday morning (22/3). The Head of Ubud Police Department, AKP I Gede Sudyatmaja said that the body was found on the second floor of Pondok Saraswati Bungalow in the village of Lodtunduh in Ubud Gianyar.

“Pavel has died after allegedly hanging himself in the villa” said AKP Sudyatmaja on Monday (22/3). Pavel, who was known as a designer, was found dead by a witness named Andreeva Evgeniya that morning.

Sudyatmaja explained that Pavel was found by Evgeniya while she was taking care of her kids. “Evgeniya still heard her friend Pavel doing some stuff on the second floor around 10:00am,” AKP Sudyatmaja added. A few minutes later Evgeniya went upstairs to show Pavel the new glasses that she had just bought recently, and was shocked to find her friend hung in his room.

She immediately went downstairs and told the owner of the bungalow, Wayan Madira and his wife, Ni Putu Sumiati about what she just found. They tried to save Pavel by cutting down the rope but unfortunately he was already dead. Police Officers and medical staff from Ubud Clinic arrived at their location a few minutes after they called them for help. “The medical team from the clinic didn’t find any other wounds from physical assault, but the case is still under police investigation right now” AKP Sudyatmaja concluded.
