Two Expats Fined US $70 For Breaking Health Protocols in Bali

Bali Authorities have penalized two expats with (US $70) IDR 1 million in fines for violating prevention protocols in Seminyak. The provincial government has recently issued a Governor’s Instruction Number 10 Year 2021 about the implementation of prevention protocols in the new normal, which stated that the foreign nationals who violate the protocols will receive higher fines than the locals.

The joint forces from Police, Military, and Public Civil Service Officers penalized 12 people who didn’t wear masks during the operation at Jalan Kayuaya, Seminyak on Sunday evening (21/3).

The Head of Bali Public Civil Service, I Dewa Nyoman Rai Dharmadi said the 12 violators were 9 foreign nationals and 3 locals.

“Two expats named Atkin Scot from Australia and Sami from Lebanon were punished with IDR 1 million fines, and one local was punished with IDR 100,000 fines during our operation on Sunday evening,” Dharmadi said.

“If they are found violating our protocols for the second time, Immigration officers will deport them from Indonesia” Dharmadi added.

Meanwhile. three other foreign nationals, including Sergei from Ukraine, Peter from Switzerland, and Ermogenous from Cyprus along with one Indonesian citizen also violated protocols that evening and were unable to pay the fines to the officers.

“We summoned violators who were unable to pay the fines onsite to our office for the following day. There were also another five people who only received our warning for not wearing the mask properly” Dharmadi concluded.

Can better get one liter of ten years old Ardbeg whiskey for such amount of money and use it instead of Laphroaig for inside Desinfektion.

Why is it so hard not to wear a mask properly that is acceptable by the health guidelines? Wear two masks if you have to. It is for your own protection and others.

A mask is not a political statement. The invisible virus does not pick and choose. Once the virus gets inside you then you are on borrowed time.
