Bali Police opposed court conduct regarding the sentencing of foreigners accused of drug possession, stating that they were too lenient. The Head of Denpasar Police Department, Kombes Pol Jansen Avitus Pandjaitan protested the panel of judges for light verdicts recently given to expats in relation to narcotics cases.
That statement was directed to the Denpasar District Attorney due to his concern about law enforcement in Denpasar.
The subject received a large reaction from citizens while earning media attention. Kombes Pol Jansen said this issue has been ongoing for many years, yet no one has addressed it before.
“I give Andrew Ayer’s drug possession case, for example, despite getting caught with 0.5kg of hashish, and being a Russian Interpol fugitive at the same time, he was only sentenced with 1.5-year imprisonment,” Jansen said at the Denpasar Police Department office on Friday (5/3).
He urged the media to be more active in criticizing this kind of behavior from authorities in order to bring equality before the law for everyone who violates the Indonesian constitution.
Conclusively, he reminds related institutions to give a deterrent effect towards offenders. “I hope our judiciary could provide consistency for all offenders, but unfortunately, this is mostly beyond our expectation,” Jansen concluded.

The easiest and most human way is just to send such people who are strangers out of Indonesia and prohibit them to come back to Indonesia for apropirate amount of time.

Stop the slave labour foreigners are subjecting the Balinese people too. I know of one Australian owned restaurant paying $5 yes $5 dollars for nearly 11 hours work a day.also the verbal abuse they have to put up to every day. These people need the money so this is happening in Bali. I have the proof. Also when a new staff member starts the first thing other staff tell them, if the boss says to go up stairs, DON’T. You work it out why.

One is presented to buy countless drugs in any tourist destination in INDONESIA.Large amounts of ganga is grown in Danau Toba and Aceh. The Bali prison directs the drug trade.Instead of punishing foreigners for the Indonesian drug trade why not decriminalise it like every other country in the world and get rid of the police protection, drug lords and prison overcrowding?
